Outright is currently seeking an intern to work with our Communcations team. Communications interns will gain hands-on experience in non-profit communications work, including media relations, message development, publication and media outlet monitoring, media production, editing, and translation. Responsibilities will vary according to departmental needs but may include: monitoring news outlets; editing web communications, and reports; writing articles; generating content for Outright's website or social media channels and external sources; conducting research for digital media strategy and target audiences; social media-related activities; or planning events.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Distributing digital media for online marketing and social platforms
- Supporting digital marketing, search engine optimization, planning and analysis
- Researching key topics for press releases
- Coordinating with the team to create graphics, blog posts, and more.
- Ideal candidates are undergraduate or graduate students with a demonstrated academic and/or extracurricular interest in social justice, human rights, and/or LGBTIQ issues with strong writing abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in digital media for school or other newspaper in order to produce short articles on Outright issues with subject guidance,
- Information synthesis and copy-editing skills
- Research experience, as needed for opinion pieces, infographics, press releases
- Interest in/familiarity with global media
- Experience in graphic/web design and media making a plus
- Experience in videography/photography a plus
