Outright is currently seeking a Program Assistant to support programmatic execution, administrative functionality, and cohesion across Outright’s global programs. The position can be based anywhere in the world outside of the USA. The ideal candidate will have exemplary research, writing, and proofreading skills, strong information management skills, familiarity with Slack, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, and Google Suite, a passion for global LGBTIQ human rights, and experience communicating complex political and social issues relevant to LGBTIQ human rights to a wide range of audiences. The selected candidate will report to the Senior Director for Law, Policy, and Research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the administrative functionality, communications, and efficiency of Outright’s programs team, including through scheduling, preparing for and taking minutes at meetings, responding to inquiries, maintaining online filing systems, and supporting travel arrangements and financial reporting
- Coordinate and manage processes and logistics related to programs, including direct coordination with human rights defenders around the world
- Proofread Outright publications
- Conduct and support background research on cases of human rights violations and other important issues impacting LGBTIQ+ people globally
- Track, organize and present data related to human rights issues and abuses in support of Outright’s programs and research
- Draft, review and distribute correspondence both internally and amongst various external stakeholders
- Receive and process information requests from human rights defenders
- Assist with the organization and execution of events
- Support fundraising efforts for the program and Outright in general. This includes contributing material for proposals and reports and attending Outright fundraising events and meetings
- Other tasks and responsibilities, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, and a minimum of one year’s work experience
- Knowledge of and experience working on LGBTIQ issues, other human rights issues, gender, international development, or other related areas
- Demonstrated commitment to LGBTIQ equality
- An ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple time-sensitive priorities
- Exceedingly detail-oriented and committed to efficiency and a demonstrated history of bringing more organization in fast-paced environments
- Proven ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with many stakeholders and manage multiple projects while being a committed team player
- Strong writing and communication skills, with comfort in communicating with a wide range of interlocutors including human rights defenders, government officials, diplomats, and other leaders
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, Zoom, and other admin software
- Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in another language, including French, Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese, is desirable.
