Job Description

As Resource Mobilization Manager, you will spearhead our work to build revenue for Proximate’s operations. You will use a mix of sources, including but not limited to grants, donations, sponsored content, and advertising. This external-facing role will involve regular conversations with potential donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders — as well as collaboration with other media outlets that will co-fundraise with us. This role demands a mix of creative strategy and practical execution, all while upholding our values and mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Strategy
    • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive revenue strategy for Proximate, including but not limited to grants, donations, sponsored content, and advertising.
    • Create and manage a detailed tracking system for all revenue activities, ensuring goals are met and providing regular reports to leadership.
  • Grant Management
    • Research potential grant opportunities; prepare and submit grant applications in collaboration with co-CEOs. 
    • Coordinate virtual and in-person funder briefings; develop relationships with aligned potential funders.
  • Business Development
    • Research opportunities for sponsored content (article series and newsletters) and advertising sales.
    • Develop marketing collateral and customizable packages that align with Proximate’s editorial standards.
  • Relationship Development
    • Cultivate relationships with potential partners, content sponsors, and advertisers. Create customized packages that meet their goals and align with our editorial standards.
    • Represent Proximate at industry events, conferences, and meetings; organize virtual and in-person events to attract and educate potential funders or content sponsors.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Proximate’s mission and vision.
  • Proven experience in revenue generation, fundraising, or business development, preferably in the nonprofit sector or media industry.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including co-fundraising with other media outlets.
  • Helpful: Experience in using CRM software for tracking and managing partner relationships.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Temporary non-exempt hourly position, Competitive pay of $50-75 per hour, with some flexibility, depending on experience

MORE INFORMATION

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This role does not supervise other employees.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.  Daily schedule is flexible, and will be decided in consultation with the supervisor.
This is a temporary position (6 months, estimated 15-20 hrs/week)
TRAVEL
No significant travel expected. Occasional travel may be required for meetings and conferences.
